Tartans Win 3-1 at Gettysburg

(GETTYSBURG, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team traveled to Gettysburg College for its second game of the season on Sunday, September 1. Behind two goals from senior Jake Kavan, the Tartans beat the Bullets, 3-1, for their first win of the season and are now 1-0-1 overall.

  • The Tartans started off the scoring fifteen minutes into the first half with a goal by Kavan that was assisted by junior Rohan Dhingra.
  • In the 31st minute of the first half, sophomore Julian Koide scored for the Tartans to give the visitors a two-goal advantage.
  • Two minutes later, the Bullets scored a penalty kick, making the score 2-1.
  • In the 58th minute, Kavan, with an assist from freshman Sandor Preda, scored again.
  • Five of the Tartans' nine shots were on goal compared to two of the Bullets' eight shots.
  • Junior Mark Martinez earned his first career win in goal for the Tartans.
