Second Half Strike Lifts Tartans to 2-1 Victory

(PITTSBURGH, Pa) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team faced Ohio Wesleyan University on Saturday, September 21. The Tartans beat the Battling Bishops, 2-1. The Tartans are now at 4-2-2 overall and the Bishops are now 4-3-1 overall.

  • The Bishops scored first in the 31st minute of the game.
  • Sophomore Nicholas Kourakis scored a minute later for the Tartans when a deflected pass landed at his foot. He drove to the 18-yard box and fired a shot to the near post for the equalizer.
  • With an assist by Kourakis, freshman Leonardo Serodio scored for the Tartans in the 80th minute to give the Tartans the lead. It was Serodio's first career goal.
  • Goalie sophomore Kai Yamamoto had four saves.
  • The Tartans had a total of 14 shots compared to the Bishops' eight shots.
  • Eight of the Tartans' 14 shots were on goal.
  • Serodio had five out of the 14 shots for the Tartans and freshman Drew McKim hit the crossbar.
