Tartans Host Juniata, Win 2-0

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's soccer team hosted Juniata College on Wednesday, September 25. The Tartans beat the Eagles 2-0, putting them at 5-2-2 overall and the Eagles at 3-1-5 overall.

Inside the Box Score

  • In the first half, no one scored, but the Tartans had nine shots, five of which were on goal.
  • Twenty minutes into the second half, sophomore Nicholas Kourakis scored the first goal of the game, assisted by graduate student Dallan Schoenberger on a corner kick.
  • In the 87th minute, senior Jake Slackman scored the second goal for the Tartans after settling a long ball over the defense by senior Jake Kavan and chipping the keeper who came out to try and stop the play.
  • The Tartans had a total of 18 shots compared to the Eagles' two shots. Eight of the Tartans' 18 shots were on goal.
  • Freshman Leonardo Serodio had four shots.
  • Freshman Sandor Preda had three shots.
  • Sophomore Kai Yamamoto earned the shutout.
