Tartans Sweep Home Quad Meet

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's swimming team swept results at the Carnegie Mellon University Quad Meet on Saturday. The Tartans defeated Washington & Lee University 132.5-129.5, the University of Rochester 185-77, and Allegheny College 178-84.

In the 1,000-yard freestyle, freshman Andrew Yee (Danville, Calif./Monte Vista) finished in 9:50.81 breaking his career-best time by just under five seconds and placing first. Freshman David Campbell (Vorhees, N.J./Eastern Regional) finished in with a career-best time of 10:03.39 giving Carnegie Mellon two finishers in the top three.

The Tartans came through with another first and third-place finish in the next event, the 200-yard freestyle. Junior Brandon Yee (Danville, Calif./Monte Vista) finished in 1:45.32, a season-best time, for the top place, and freshman Jonathon Lin (Campbell, Calif./Westmont) touched at 1:45.78, his career-best time, for third place.

Once again, the Tartans placed two swimmers in the top three taking second and third in the 200-yard butterfly. Junior Dan Glaser-Garbrick (Dayton, Ohio/Centreville) and Brandon Yee finished back-to-back with times of 1:55.77 and 1:55.80, respectively. Both times were good enough for season bests for the two Carnegie Mellon swimmers.

In the 200-yard IM, Glaser-Garbrick picked up the victory. His season's best time of 1:58.25 gave the Tartans a first-place finish.

Two freshmen for the Tartans placed second and third in the 200-yard breaststroke. Cole Um (Federal Way, Wash./Bellarmine Prep) and Daniel Mock (Lexington, Mass./Lexington) finished in 2:12.18 and 2:13.96, good enough for career bests. Andrew Yee later took first place in the 500-yard freestyle for Carnegie Mellon with a career-best time of 4:42.56. Campbell also turned in a career-best time finishing in 4:51.38 taking third place for the Tartans.

The team will return to action on December 1-3 when they travel to Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio, for the Total Performance Invitational.
