Riek Closes NCAA Championships with Third All-America Honor

(GREENSBORO, N.C.) - Freshman Mitchell Riek (Sunland, Calif./Bishop Alemany) closed the 2016 NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships with his third All-America honor on Saturday, March 19. Behind Riek's performances and freshman Gabriel Bamforth's (Cambridge, Mass./CRLS) diving, the Tartans finished 28th overall.

Riek's final performance of the championships came in the 1,650-yard freestyle which he swam Saturday. The freshman finished the final event in a career-best time of 15:37.71 to place seventh to claim his third All-America award of the meet.

Riek also earned All-America honors in the 200-yard butterfly where he placed third and Honorable Mention All-America in the 500-yard freetyle where he was ninth.

Bamforth finished 16th on the three-meter diving board to claim Honorable Mention All-America and was 17th on the one-meter board.
