Tartans Host Time Trials After Training Trip

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's swimming and diving team hosted a home time trials meet a week after returning from its annual training trip in Miami, Florida.

In diving, freshman Jonathan Lindstrom (Bethesda, Md. / Walt Whitman) earned his second NCAA Regional qualifying score on the 1-meter board with 456.55 points after 11 dives. Sophomore Tyler Hoyt (River Forest, Ill. / Oak Park and River Forest) finished just behind Lindstrom with 444.05 points to earn his first NCAA Regional qualifying score on the board. On the 3-meter board, senior James Kyle (Austin, Texas / St. Stephen's Episcopal School) placed first with 344.65 points after six dives with his brother Jud Kyle finishing second with 301.30 points. Both scores met the qualifying mark for the Kyle brothers for the fourth time this season.

Swimming highlights:

Senior Doug Johnson (Brea, Calif. / Brea Olinda) won the 1,000-yard freestyle in 9:57.61 and the 500-yard freestyle in 4:56.44

Junior Aleksander Tarczynski (Springfield, Va. / West Springfield) won the 100-yard freestyle in 46.37 and the 100-yard butterfly in 50.67 before finishing second in the 200-yard IM in 1:56.10.

Freshman Christian Lanuza (Greenwich, Conn. / Greenwich) won the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:06.66 and the 100-yard breaststroke in 58.03.

Sophomore Sammy Telanoff (Santa Monica, Calif. / Santa Monica) won the 200-yard IM in 1:55.98 and finished second in the 200-yard breaststroke in 2:07.15 and the 400-yard IM in 4:10.20.

Senior Justin Britton (Falls Church, Va. / George Mason) won the 200-yard backstroke in 1:52.49 and placed second in the 100-yard butterfly in 51.59 and the 50-yard freestyle in 21.35.

Junior Erik Feldmann (Yakima, Wash. / West Valley) won the 50-yard freestyle in 21.10 and placed second in the 100-yard freestyle in 46.99.

Senior Sean Ream (Canton, Ohio / Jackson) won the 200-yard butterfly in 1:53.10.

Sophomore Santiago Gomez (Doral, Fla. / Doral Academy) won the 400-yard IM in 4:10.02.

Sophomore Adi Kambhampaty (Arlington, Va. / Washington-Liberty) won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:44.25.

Senior Jonathan Hua (New Providence, N.J. / Delbarton) won the 100-yard backstroke in 52.97.
