Morford, 200 Medley Relay Earn Trophies, Set School Records at NCAA Championships

(GREENSBORO, N.C.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's swimming and diving team opened the 2024 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships on Wednesday, March 20 with two podium performances and two school records. The meet is being hosted at the Greensboro Aquatics Center.

Top Performances 

  • Freshman Brayden Morford placed third in the 200-yard IM with a time of 1:46.51. Morford's time in prelims set a new school record of 1:46.26.
  • The Tartans placed sixth in the 200-yard medley relay. Sophomore Arnav Deshpande led off with the backstroke, freshman Aaron Lee swam the breaststroke, graduate student Aleksander Tarczynski swam the butterfly, and sophomore DJ Lloyd swam the freestyle to finish in a time of 1:27.46, also setting a new school record.
  • Before the relay, Lloyd swam in the consolation final of the 50-yard freestyle, placing 16th overall in 20.44 seconds. He reached the evening swim session with a personal-best time of 20.14 in the preliminaries.
