Tartan Softball Releases 2021 Roster

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – Carnegie Mellon University head softball coach Monica Harrison, in her third year at the helm of the Tartans, has released the roster for the 2021 spring season.

Below are a few facts about the makeup of the 21-member softball team.

Class Years: Seniors (1); Juniors (11); Sophomores (5); Newcomers (4)

Natives Of: California (5); Connecticut (1); Illinois (1); Michigan (1); Massachusetts (1); New Hampshire (1); New Jersey (6); Maryland (1); Pennsylvania (1); Texas (2); Virginia (1)

College of Study: College of Engineering (4); Deitrich College of Humanities and Social Sciences (10); Mellon College of Science (4); Tepper School of Business (3)

Notes:

  • Five players were named to the All-UAA Team last season with all on the current roster: Tessa Bruneau, Emily Finger, Megan Hu, Scotty McGee and Emily Song
  • The Tartans return their ace over the last two seasons in Scotty McGee, as she has led the University Athletic Association (UAA) in strikeouts during the span with 190 in 174.1 innings pitched. The junior led the UAA in wins (5), strike outs (42), and ERA (2.03) a season ago before the stoppage due to COVID.
  • Two players were named National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-America Scholar-Athletes following the 2019 season with one on the current roster: Kyra Musmanno *Note, the NFCA did not give out awards in 2020

Thoughts from Head Coach Monica Harrison:
"As we enter year three of our program, we are excited about the growth we have seen with the team. The addition of our freshman class continues to add depth and development to our roster. We can't wait to bring all of the lessons learned from last year before COVID, growth and maturity we've gained through COVID, and our overall enthusiasm to be back onto the field this season."
