(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) - Sophomore left fielder Erika Heffernen (Moorestown, N.J. / Moorestown) has been honored by the University Athletic Association (UAA) as the UAA Softball Hitter of the Week following a 2-1 week for the Tartans. The honor is the first of the year for Heffernen and second for the Tartans.

Heffernen led the Tartans with a .636 batting average on the road against New York University while collecting multiple hits in all three contests. The left fielder hit her second triple in UAA play in game one while she had two hits, a walk, a stolen base, and scored a run in the 8-3 victory. In that same game with the Tartans ahead 3-2 in the third inning, Heffernen tracked a deep fly to the fence to make the catch and third out with the bases loaded. The next inning, she reached on an error but put across what ended up being the game-winning run.

The sophomore, who is playing in her first season due to an injury prior to last year, finished the weekend with three hits and three RBIs in an 8-6 loss. Heffernen now has a nine-game hitting streak and eight total multi-hit games for the season.

The Tartans continue the 2022 season with a four-game home series against Brandeis University with one game scheduled for Friday, April 8, two for Saturday, April 9, and one for Sunday, April 10.
