Heffernen and Eichberger Repeat as All-UAA Selections

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Junior Erika Heffernen and sophomore Libby Eichberger were once again honored by the University Athletic Association (UAA) coaches with selection to the Softball All-Association team for 2023. Heffernen was voted to the first team for the second straight season while Eichberger earned a spot on the second team for the second time.

Heffernen, the starting left fielder for the Carnegie Mellon University softball team, led the team with a .415 batting average in UAA play and a .408 average overall. Heffernen knocked out 22 hits and five RBIs against UAA competition with seven stolen bases and seven runs scored. For the season, Heffernen was second on the team in total hits with 42, including six doubles and a triple. Batting at the bottom of the lineup, Heffernen recorded 11 games with more than one hit, including seven during UAA play, and tied a career-best with three hits in three games this year.

Eichberger moved to right field from center field this season and hit .361 with 22 hits, 13  runs scored, and seven RBIs against the UAA. She finished fourth on the team in total hits with 40 and was second on the team with 25 runs scored. Her 13 stolen bases was also second most on the team and she finished with 17 RBIs while mixing time between the top and bottom of the lineup.

The Tartans finished the year with a 15-23 overall mark and 5-15 showing in the UAA in their fifth overall season.
