Boucher Receives Softball Hitter of the Week Accolade
(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Senior Kiera Boucher of the Carnegie Mellon University softball team has been honored as the University Athletic Association (UAA) Softball Hitter of the Week for her performance during the four-game series against Brandeis University on April 6 and 7.
In a weekend that Boucher collected her 100th career hit, the senior also led the Tartans to a 2-2 series against Brandeis by hitting .583 with a slugging percentage of 1.083. As the Tartans' leadoff hitter, Boucher recorded two bunt singles in game one to reach 100 career hits. She then hit a home run, her third of the season, in game two. In the two Tartan wins, Boucher was 4-for-6, scored five runs, and had one RBI which was a solo home run that led off the bottom of the third inning and broke up a 2-2 tie as the Tartans went on to win 13-7.
Collectively, Boucher had seven hits in 12 at bats, was hit by two pitches, scored six runs, batted in two runs and stole a base.
Boucher's game-four solo home run was one of six the Tartans hit in the game which set a new UAA record.
The Tartans continue the season with a four-game road series at New York University with game one set to play on Friday, April 12 at 3:00 p.m.
