Tartans Beat Muskingum 91-61 to Run Record to 4-0

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's basketball team hosted Muskingum University on Saturday, November 16. The Tartans won 91-61, putting them at 4-0 for the season while the Muskies are 1-2.

Inside the Box Score

  • Freshman Payton Baney started off the scoring for the Tartans with a layup, assisted by senior Anisha Chintala.
  • Free throw shots by senior Catherine Or and Chintala brought the Tartans to an early 8-2 lead with eight minutes remaining in the first quarter.
  • The Tartans kept their lead for the rest of the first quarter with a three-point jump shot and layup by Chintala, free throws by Or, and layup and free throws by junior Nicole Timko, bringing the score to 21-13.
  • Three-point jump shots by senior Isha Nambisan, Or and Timko helped the Tartans keep their lead, finishing up the second quarter 43-32.
  • The Tartans had a run of 14 points at the beginning of the third quarter, including another triple by Nambisan.

  • The Muskies tightened things up slightly in the fourth quarter, reducing the Tartans' lead to 17 points.
  • Freshman Justine Katz made a layup with 24 seconds remaining to score the final points of the game.

  • The Tartans had 49 rebounds and 12 turnovers.

  • Or had six assists and six rebounds to go with 12 points for her fourth game in double figures.
