#24 Tartans Close Home Weekend with 74-67 Win Against Brandeis

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The 24th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's basketball team hosted Brandeis University on Sunday, January 26. The Tartans topped the Judges, 74-67, after leading by 27 during the game to move to 13-3 overall and 3-2 in the University Athletic Association (UAA). The Judges fall to 9-8 and 2-4.
How it Happened
- The Tartans used a 15-8 run over the final five minutes of the first quarter to take a 21-12 lead.
- Senior Isha Nambisan hit her first of three three-pointers for the game to end the quarter off an assist by senior Catherine Or.
- Sophomore Anna Prouty led the Tartans in the second quarter with nine points in four minutes and 27 seconds of action. She was 4-of-4 from the floor and converted a free throw.
- The Tartans led by 14 at the break after freshman Payton Baney made a jump shot with time expiring for the 39-25 advantage.
- UAA leading scorer, Lulu Ohm, who averages 20.1 points a game, was held to seven points in the first half, all of which came in the second period.
- Carnegie Mellon extended its lead in the third period, outscoring the Judges 22-9 by shooting 50.0% from the floor and dishing out five assists on eight made baskets.
- Brandeis made a push in the fourth quarter as they climbed from 27 points down to 10 with 39 seconds to go. The Judges shot 11-for-20 in the frame and forced nine Tartan turnovers.
- A three-pointer by Ohm with five seconds to go made it an eight-point game and the Judges made two free throws at the end for the final score to by 74-67.

- Prouty, Baney, and junior Nicole Timko all ended with 12 points.
- Or finished with 11 points, 10 rebounds, and a career-tying eight assists.
- The team shot 49.1% from the floor and 56.3% from three (9-of-16).
Judges Stats
- Ohm finished with 21 points after scoring 12 in the final quarter.
- Abby Kennedy closed with 16 points and Caitlin Gresko had 12 points.
- The team shot 37.5% from the floor, made 7-of-23 three-point attempts, and converted 12-of-18 from the free throw line.
