Or Honored as College Sports Communicators Academic All-American

(AUSTIN, Texas) – Carnegie Mellon University women's basketball senior Catherine Or has been honored on The College Sports Communicators (CSC) 2024-25 Academic All-America® women's basketball team for Division III. Or was selected to the second team and is one of 15 players to earn the award this season.

Or had a standout senior season leading the Tartans to a national ranking and the 2025 NCAA Division III Women's Basketball tournament for the first time since the 2015-16 season where the team was victorious in its first-round game.

A mechanical engineering major with a minor in robotics, Or carries a 3.97 grade point average. She is a four-time recipient of the CMU Hahn Family ACS Legacy Scholarship, and a member of the Society of Women Engineers and Pi Tau Sigma, the honor society for mechanical engineers. Away from the court, Or has volunteered as an organizer for the Special Olympics working with the basketball games and Habitat for Humanity.

A Jostens Trophy finalist, the second in CMU women's basketball history, Or was a robotics intern for Brains4Drones in 2022 and an intern at Caterpillar, Inc. in 2023 and 2024. She's signed to begin full-time work at Caterpillar as an engineer on the small wheel loader performance and integration team following graduation.

Or finished the year averaging 18.2 points per game with 7.0 rebounds a game and 4.6 assists per game. She shot 51.2% from the field, including 45.8% from beyond the arc which was a career best. Or was honored on the D3hoops.com Region 7 and All-University Athletic Association (UAA) first team, and was named a WBCA All-America honorable mention recipient.

The senior closed her career as the third leading scorer in CMU history with 1,571 points. She also finished second in assists with 338, fifth in rebounding with 815, and ninth in three-pointers made with 112. This season she set the single-season record for three-point percentage at 45.8% while as a sophomore she made 90.1% of her free throws for the single-season record.

Or, who averaged a double-double her sophomore year, finished her career with 34 double-doubles. She is a four-time All-Region honoree and D3hoops.com Region 7 Rookie of the Year, four-time All-UAA selection, and three-time CSC Academic All-District recipient.

Or is the sixth Academic All-American in CMU women's basketball history and first since Lisa Murphy and Jackie Hudepohl earned the award for the second time in 2016-17.
