Key Moment

The game-winning goal was scored by freshman Jenna Hallbeck in the 16th minute.

Thoughts from Hallbeck

"I'm very happy with our team's performance and this win sets the tone for our game against Johns Hopkins on Sunday. Scoring the first goal was exciting. I like being able to help the team and make a difference in games. That's always the goal for me when I step on the field. This group of players is extremely talented and I can't wait to see what we accomplish this season."

Inside The Box Score

  • The Tartans put eight shots on goal for the game with sophomore Catherine MacNichol earning two.
  • MacNichol scored the game's second goal in the opening minutes of the second half after junior Breana Valentovish slipped a pass up the middle which MacNichol controlled by turning on her defender. MacNichol then drove into free space and beat the keeper at the near post with a shot under the keeper's right side.
  • Valentovish then scored her second goal of the season with a left-footed volley at the top of the box after controlling a poor clearance by the defense in the 88th minute.
  • Senior Olivia Brand wasn't tested in goal and earned her second win of the season.
