#8 Tartans Secure Home Shutout Versus Penn State Behrend

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The eighth-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's soccer team hosted Penn State Behrend on Sunday, September 25, defeating the Lions 2-0 to move to 6-1-1 for the year. Penn State Behrend drops to 1-6-1.

Inside The Box Score

  • Senior Alex Adams entered the game in the 20th minute and scored the game's opening goal in the 22nd minute after receiving a pass from sophomore Gemma Jefferson at the corner of the 18-yard box. Adams dribbled to her left and fired a left-footed shot over the keeper for the score.
  • Sophomore Catherine MacNichol scored just before the half ended after senior Rachel Legg served a ball over the defense for MacNichol to calmly touch off the bounce past the keeper charging out.
  • The Tartans fired off 14 shots in the second half with seven of them on goal.
  • Freshman Abby O'Connor started and made one save in 76 minutes of action to record her second win of the season.
