(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) - Senior forward Alex Adams was named the University Athletic Association (UAA) Women's Soccer Offensive Athlete of the Week after leading the eighth-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's soccer team to a 2-2 tie in the UAA opener against unbeaten NYU. The honor is the second of the year for the Tartans and the first of the year for Adams.

Adams scored twice to lead the Tartans back from a two-goal deficit after NYU was able to score a pair in the first seven minutes of the game. The senior's first strike came in the 16th minute and she tied the game with a second-half goal in the 62nd minute. Both goals came after Adams crashed the net to put in rebounded shots by her teammates. Adams now has six goals for the season, is tied for the team lead with 14 points, and has six career goals against UAA opponents, registering her first multi-goal game in conference play.

The Tartans return to the field on Saturday, October 8 when they visit Brandeis University (6-3-1, 0-1) for a 1:30 p.m. match.
