#7 Tartans Drop UAA Finale to #4 Case Western Reserve, 1-0

(CLEVELAND, Ohio) – The seventh-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's soccer team traveled to Cleveland, Ohio, to face fourth-ranked Case Western Reserve University on Saturday, November 5 in the last regular season game of the year with the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship on the line as the two teams were tied atop the standings with 5-0-1 UAA marks. An early goal by the Spartans held up, as the home team won 1-0 to secure its first UAA Championship. The Tartans close the regular season with a 12-2-2 overall mark and 5-1-1 record in the UAA.

  • A free kick opportunity in the sixth minute of the game proved to be the difference as Jamie Goldfarb got her head on the service from Elizabeth White and put it in the corner past senior keeper Olivia Brand for the game's only goal.
  • The Tartans had the better opportunities to score in the second half, firing of eight shots to just one for the Spartans.
  • Two shots were put on frame by the Tartans in the second half with the first coming off the foot of freshman defender Helena Locateli and the second by freshman Jenna Hallbeck in the final five minutes.

  • The Tartans finish second in the UAA standings, their highest finish since achieving the same spot in 2016.
