(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Senior Rachel Legg of the Carnegie Mellon University women's soccer team has been named the University Athletic Association (UAA) Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Year, a first for a Tartan in the three-year existence of the award, while four teammates also garnered All-Association honors from the league's coaches following a 5-1-1 UAA schedule.

Legg also earned first-team honors with senior Alex Adams and junior Cecelia Dieterich earning second-team selection. Senior Olivia Brand and sophomore Avery McGuirt received honorable mention recognition.

Legg started every game for the Tartans during the regular season and played the most minutes on the team with 1,310 minutes played. As a center back for the team, Legg was integral in the team's nine shutouts and 0.75 goals against average. The UAA honor is the second for Legg who was named to the second team in her freshman campaign.

Adams led the team in scoring with eight goals and 18 points during the regular season, scoring three goals in UAA play including both goals in a 2-2 tie with New York University and the game-winner at Washington University in St. Louis. The honor is the third for Adams who was a first-team honoree as a freshman and junior.

Dieterich earns her second All-Association second-team honor after starting every UAA game and 10 of the 11 regular-season games she played this year. Dieterich scored the game-winning goal at the University of Chicago and also tallied a goal against 15th-ranked Emory University.

In her first full-time season as the Tartan goalkeeper, Brand recorded three shutouts while sharing minutes in six other team shutouts. Her three shutouts came against UAA opponents where she held a 0.58 goals against average in seven games, playing all but 12 minutes of action.

McGuirt played the second-highest amount of minutes for the Tartans this year at 1,296 minutes, including all but one minute of UAA action, as an outside back on the defense. McGuirt often stopped opposing attackers from serving passes or taking shots to contribute to the team's 0.75 goals against average and nine shutouts during the regular season. The UAA honor is the first for McGuirt.
