Stillo Named to Capital One Academic All-America First Team

(TOWSON, Md.) – Carnegie Mellon University junior Breanna Stillo (West Caldwell, N.J./James Caldwell) was named to the Capital One Academic All-America Women's At-Large First Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) for the 2011-2012 season. CoSIDA recognizes outstanding academic and athletic accomplishments by honoring deserving athletes with All-Academic recognition.

A biomedical and chemical engineering major with a 4.00 G.P.A., Stillo won the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championship in the 100-yard breaststroke this season. She also set a school record in the event and hit a provisional qualifying mark for the NCAA Championships with a time of 1:05.16. The records book also has Stillo's name listed for the 50-yard freestyle as she swam a time of 23.94 to lead off the 200-yard freestyle relay at the UAA Championships. In total, Stillo provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships in four events, the two previously mentioned along with the 200- and 400-yard medley relays.

During her three years as a swimmer for the Tartans, Stillo has finished in the top three at the UAA Championships 10 times, including twice in the 100-yard breaststroke.

Stillo also earned Honorable Mention Scholar All-America from the College Swim Coaches Association for maintaining a GPA above 3.5 for the semester and hitting a provisional qualifying mark.
