Tartan Diver Kaku Honored by UAA Again

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Carnegie Mellon University freshman diver Machika Kaku (Irvine, Calif./University) was honored as the University Athletic Association Women's Diver of the Week on Tuesday, January 21. The honor is the second of the season for Kaku.

Kaku sparkled at the first meet of the semester when she dove to two season-high scores at the double dual meet with SUNY Geneseo and Westminster College. The freshman placed second on both boards but bettered her score for six dives with 281.90 points on the one-meter and 244.25 points on the three-meter.

Previously this year, Kaku set the school record for 11 dives scored on the one-meter board with 457.80 points at the Total Performance Invitational hosted by Kenyon College.

Kaku and the rest of the swimming and diving team will be in action again on Saturday, January 25 when the Tartans host Denison University at 1:00 p.m.
