Kaku Places 18th at Region 4 Diving Championships

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) - Freshman diver Machika Kaku (Irvine, Calif./University) of the Carnegie Mellon University women's swimming and diving team competed in the NCAA Region 4 Diving Championships hosted by Rochester Institute of Technology on Friday, February 28 and Saturday, March 1.

Kaku qualified for the first-ever regional championship in both the one-meter and three-meter diving events by surpassing qualifying scores twice during the season.

On Friday, Kaku finished 18th on the one-meter board with 322.95 points and followed it with another 18th-place showing on the three-meter board on Saturday, amassing 350.80 points.

The top seven divers from the meet will move on to the NCAA Championships held from March 19-22 and compete against other divers from the other regions.
