Kuramoto Sets School Records During CMU Diving Invitational

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University so men's diving team hosted the CMU Diving Invitational on Friday, November 19 and Saturday, November 20. Sophomore Kelli Kuramoto (Los Altos, Calif. / Los Altos) set two pool records and two school records while winning both the  1-meter and 3-meter board events. 

On Friday, Kuramoto topped all 19 divers on the 1-meter with a record-setting performance with 496.30 points. Junior Emilia Schwallie (Weston, Mass. / Weston) placed sixth with 432.60 points with freshman Kyndall Tatum (Highlands Ranch, Colo. / Arapahoe) placing seventh with 427.45.

On the 3-meter board, Kuramoto reached 500.35 points to be the first women's diver at Carnegie Mellon to top 500 points on either board. The sophomore's score on Saturday topped her own school record of 495.00 points set last year. 

Schwallie placed fifth on the 3-meter with 433.75 points while Tatum placed sixth with 424.15 points. 

All three reached NCAA qualifying scores on both boards.

The Tartans will now take a break from action until January when they travel to Denison University on January 15.
