Szabo and Kuramoto Tabbed as UAA Swimming and Diving Athletes of the Week

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's swimming and diving team swept the University Athletic Association (UAA) weekly honors with freshman Eliana Szabo earning UAA Women's Swimmer of the Week and junior Kelli Kuramoto earning UAA Women's Diver of the Week following their performances in the dual meet against Washington and Lee University and the diving meet against Kenyon College on Saturday, November 12. The award is the second of the year for Kuramoto.

Szabo was a triple winner on Saturday by touching first in the 200-yard freestyle, 100-yard freestyle, and 100-yard butterfly. Her time of 1:55.55 in the 200-yard freestyle is a team-best. She won the 100-yard freestyle for the third time this year with a season-best time of 52.62 and finished the 100-yard butterfly in a season-best time of 59.07 during the Tartans' 199-63 dual-meet win against Washington and Lee University.

Kuramoto placed first on the 1-meter and 3-meter boards for the second time this season while setting two more NCAA regional qualifying marks with season-best scores of 302.48 and 302.55 after six dives, respectively. Kuramoto has secured her participation at the NCAA Regional Diving Championships in March.

The Tartan swimmers will be at Kenyon for a three-day invitational starting on Thursday, November 17 while the divers will host a two-day invitational starting on Friday, November 18.
