Xu Repeats as UAA Swimmer of the Week

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Sophomore Savannah Xu has been honored as the University Athletic Association (UAA) Women's Swimmer of the Week for the second straight week after her performance in the Tartans' second dual meet of the season at Case Western Reserve University on Saturday, October 28.

Xu once again touched the wall first in three events and led off the winning 400-yard medley relay with an NCAA B-Cut time of 56.75 in the 100-yard backstroke which ranks her third in the country. Xu's individual wins against CWRU came in the 100-yard backstroke in 56.91, the 200-yard backstroke in 2:03.32, and the 400-yard IM in 4:34.09.

Her 200-yard backstroke time is a season-best and ranks second in the nation while her 400-yard IM time is also second in the nation and won her the event by more than eight seconds. The 400-yard medley relay was swam for the first time by the Tartans and they currently sit fifth in the nation.

Xu and the rest of the Carnegie Mellon swimmers and divers will next hit the pool on Saturday, November 4 at home against Gettysburg College.
