Tartans Set Two School Records at UAA Championships

(CHICAGO, Ill.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's swimming and diving team continued competition on Friday, February 16 at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships at the University of Chicago. The Tartans are in sixth place with 577 points heading into the final day.

Top Performances

  • Sophomore Savannah Xu was the top finisher for the Tartans in the 400-yard IM, placing 12th with a season-best time of 4:30.66.
  • Sophomore Audrey Soetanto placed 12th in the 100-yard butterfly with a season-best time of 56.66.
  • Sophomore Eliana Szabo placed ninth in the 200-yard freestyle, with a time of 1:51.76, breaking a school record.
  • Sophomore Audrey Lambert was also a top finisher for the Tartans, placing 12th in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:05.86.
  • Sophomore Sophie Elliot led the Tartans in the 100-yard backstroke, placing ninth with a career-best time of 57.07.
  • The Tartans placed fifth in the 200-yard medley relay to close the night. Elliott, Lambert, Xu, and sophomore Grace Malinger finished in a time of 1:44.99 which meets the provisional qualifying standard for NCAAs and sets a new school record.
  • In diving, freshman Cat Bryan scored 390.45 points to place 13th and junior Kyndall Tatum scored 355.95 points to place 20th on the 3-meter diving board.

Notes

  • Szabo's new school record in the 200-yard freestyle tops the time of 1:51.95 set by Emma Nicklas-Morris in 2016.
  • The 200-yard medley relay topped the school record of 1:45.16 set last season.
