#13 Tartans Win Sixth Shutout of Season

(ORANGE, Calif.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team, ranked 13th nationally, started its spring break trip with a 9-0 victory at #27 Chapman University in Orange, California, on Sunday, March 11. The shutout marked the Tartans sixth this season and improves their dual match record to 9-2 while the Panthers are 4-3.

The Tartans swept doubles play as sophomore Katie Cecil (Huntington Beach, Calif./Ocean View) and freshman Chelsea Motie (Melbourne, Fla./West Shore) won 8-1 in the third spot. Following doubles play, the Tartans sealed the victory when Cecil defeated Melissa Boyer 6-4, 6-1.
