#13 Tartans Improve to 6-1 with a Pair of Wins

(SWARTHMORE, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team traveled to Swarthmore College Sunday, February 26 to play a pair of matches.  In the Tartans first match, the Cardinal and Gray blanked Salisbury University 9-0 before topping the host, Swarthmore 8-1.  The 13th ranked Tartans are now 6-1 on the season while Salisbury moves to 1-2 and Swarthmore is now 1-1.

Carnegie Mellon swept doubles in both matches while winning 11 single matches in straight sets on the afternoon.  The doubles tandem of freshmen Bryn Raschke (Del Mar, Calif./Torrey Pines) and Angela Pratt (Saratoga, Calif./St. Francis) started the day for the Tartans with an 8-0 victory at first doubles against Jillian Poppe and Roxanne Alban of Salisbury.

Sophomore Katie Cecil (Huntington Beach, Calif./Ocean View) didn't surrender a game in her first singles victory of the day.  The transfer won 6-0, 6-0 at first singles against Poppe before winning 6-2, 6-1 at second singles over Emily Rosenblum of Swarthmore.
