#4 Tartans Place Fourth at UAA Championship

(ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team lost to #11 Washington University Sunday, April 29 in the third-place match of the University Athletic Association Championship by the score of 5-4. The match was played at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Fla., as the Tartans move their record to 16-5 while the Bears are now 15-7.

After starting the match down 2-1 following doubles play, the Tartans took a 4-3 lead with wins at second, fourth and fifth singles, but dropped the last two points of the match. Senior Laura Chen (Port Washington, N.Y./Paul D. Schreiber) gave the Tartans the lead with a 6-7 (5), 6-0, 6-2 victory at second singles.

Also winning for the Tartans in singles play was senior Courtney Chin (Cupertino, Calif./Monta Vista) at fourth singles and freshman Angela Pratt (Saratoga, Calif./St. Francis) at fifth singles.
