#13 Tartans Defeat Fourth Ranked Opponent

(CLAREMONT, Calif.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team, ranked 13th nationally, defeated its fourth ranked opponent of the season as they topped #9 Pomona-Pitzer 7-2, on Tuesday, March 13. The win improves their dual match record to 10-2 while the Sagehens are 4-3.

The Tartans took a 2-1 advantage in doubles play and then took five of six singles points to claim the 7-2 victory.  The senior duo of Laura Chen (Port Washington, N.Y./Paul D. Schreiber) and Courtney Chin (Cupertino, Calif./Monta Vista) defeated Jamie Solomon and Kara Wang at first doubles 8-1 to start the scoring off for the Tartans.

In singles play, Chin and Chen both won while sophomore Katie Cecil (Huntington Beach, Calif./Ocean View) and freshen Angela Pratt (Saratoga, Calif./St. Francis) and Clare DuBrin (Rochester, N.Y./Pittsford Southerland) also won.
