#4 Tartans Advance to Semifinals of UAA Championships

(ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla.) – The 4th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team advanced to the semifinals of the University Athletic Association Championships with a 7-2 victory over Case Western Reserve University Friday, April 27 at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Fla. The win moves the Tartans record to 16-3 while the Spartans are now 17-5.

Carnegie Mellon jumped out to a 3-0 lead, as they swept doubles for the 12th time this season.  The senior doubles pair of Laura Chen (Port Washington, N.Y./Paul D. Schreiber) and Courtney Chin (Cupertino, Calif./Monta Vista) won 9-8 (4) at first doubles to keep the Tartans rolling into singles play.

The Tartans recorded three straight set victories while freshman Clare DuBrin (Rochester, N.Y./Pittsford Southerland) won 1-6, 6-0, 10-5 at six singles.

The Tartans will now face #6 University of Chicago Saturday, April 28 at 1:30 p.m. in the semifinals.
