#13 Tartans Take Second Place at UAA Championship

(ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team took second place after battling Emory University for the University Athletic Association Championship on Saturday in Altamonte Springs, Fla. The #3 Eagles won the match 9-0 over the #13 Tartans who are now 12-7 on the year.

Emory took a 3-0 lead after doubles play winning the third point at No. 2 doubles 8-6 after the sophomore Bryn Raschke (Del Mar, Calif./Torrey Pines) and freshman Brooke Tsu (Hillsborough, Calif./Burlingame) held a 6-3 edge in the match.

Freshmen Elizabeth Martin (St. Simons Island, Ga./Frederica Academy), Abbey Hamstra (Wheatfield, Ind./Kankakee Valley) and Raschke started their singles matches with first-set wins but were closed out in the third set by their Eagle opponents.
