Tartans Fall to Division I Duquesne 6-1

(HARMAR, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team took on Division I Duquesne University on Saturday, February 7 at Alpha Tennis in Harmar, Pennsylvania. The Dukes were the home team and won the match 6-1. The Tartans are now 4-1 on the year while Duquesne improves to 3-3.

The No. 3 doubles team of sophomore Vanessa Pavia (Thornwood, N.Y./Academy of our Lady of Good Counsel) and freshman Stacy Chang (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) won their match 8-6 but the Dukes took wins at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles to earn the doubles point under Division I scoring rules.

In singles play, freshman Cori Sidell (Redwood Shores, Calif./Carlmont) earned the Tartans' point with a 6-4, 2-6, 6-3 victory at No. 3 singles over Spencer Caravaggio.

The Tartans will next face Division I St. Francis (Pa.) on Friday, February 13 at 5:00 p.m. at Greensburg Racket Club.
