Four Tartans Selected to NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships

(INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.) - Carnegie Mellon University will have four tennis players at the 2018 NCAA Division III Singles and Doubles Tennis Championships after senior Cori Sidell (Redwood Shores, Calif./Carlmont) and sophomore Courtney Ollis (Suffern, N.Y. / Suffern) have been selected from the women's team and juniors Daniel Levine (Highland Park, Ill./Boca Prep International School) and Chaz Downing (Newport Beach, Calif. / Corona Del Mar) were selected on the men's side. The NCAA Singles and Doubles Championship will begin on May 24 at Claremont Mudd Scripps in Claremont, California.

Sidell was selected to the singles bracket and will also compete in doubles with Ollis. The singles appearance will be the second of her career as she was in the tournament as a junior. Sidell returns to the doubles tournament for the third time in her career after earning All-America honors as a freshman and sophomore. Ollis will be making her first appearance at the individual championships. Sidell holds a 16-7 mark in singles play while she and Ollis are 16-8 in doubles play.

Levine earned his third trip to the tournament as a singles player and second as a doubles combo. Currently ranked second in the nation, Levine earned first-round wins in his previous two showings in the singles bracket earning All-America honors. Levine currently has a singles record of 24-6 and has registered 20 or more wins in each of his seasons as a Tartan. Downing is listed as an alternate in singles play and will pair with Levine in the doubles bracket. The pair have a 17-5 record together, including a 10-4 mark at first singles in dual matches.

The draw for the tournaments will be released on Wednesday, May 23 at the conclusion of the team championships.
