Tartans Host Invitational with West Liberty

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis team hosted Division II West Liberty University for a two-day invitational on Thursday, September 29 and Friday, September 30.

Singles Results

  • The Tartans won 10 of 12 matches.
  • Freshman Anika Joshi topped two opponents on Thursday by 8-1 scores.
  • Junior Danna Taylor won two matches, an 8-2 win and an 8-5 win.
  • Freshman Divya Venkatarama picked up an 8-3 win on Thursday and an 8-5 win on Friday.

Doubles Results

  • The Tartans won 11 of 14 matches.
  • Venkatarama played three matches on Thursday, pairing with Taylor, Joshi, and junior Julieta Ruiz for one-set victories.
  • Taylor also collected three victories on Thursday, pairing with three different first-year players.
  • Fresh off their ITA Southeast Regional title, Taylor and sophomore Crystal Zhou won a one-set match by a 6-2 score on Friday.
  • Zhou also paired with freshman Anna Chow to win 6-2 on Friday.

Next Up

Taylor, Zhou and sophomore Sarah Yang will compete at the ITA Cup which begins on Thursday, October 13 in Rome, Georgia.
