Tartan Women Finish Play at ITA Cup

(ROME, Ga.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's tennis program completed competition at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Cup at the Rome Tennis Center in Rome, Georgia, on Saturday, October 14.

Sophomore Divya Venkatarama won her singles consolation quarterfinal match on Friday by a 6-1, 6-4 score against senior Irene Agusti. Venkatarama finished play in a consolation semifinal match against junior Hannah Kassie of Case Western Reserve University on Saturday, falling 6-4, 7-5.

Senior Danna Taylor dropped her quarterfinal match to sophomore Matia Cristiani of Babson College on Friday by a 6-4, 6-1 score before facing senior Ana Cristina Perez of Emory in the fifth-place match on Saturday. Perez was able to top Taylor with a 7-5, 6-3 score.

In doubles play, Taylor and sophomore Anna Chow started their consolation quarterfinal match against senior Sofia Walker and graduate student Kelsey Dorr of St. Catherine University on Friday before it got suspended. The Tartan pair completed the match on Saturday with a 7-5, 6-2 victory.
