Qian Named UAA Athlete of the Week

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Carnegie Mellon University freshman Elaine Qian was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week for helping the Tartans to three wins over the weekend by putting together a 5-0 record in combined singles and doubles play.

In the Tartans 6-3 win at #20 Denison Saturday, Qian teamed with sophomore Anika Joshi at third double to claim the Tartans lone point heading into singles play. The freshman then clinched the match for the Cardinal and Gray with a 6-1, 6-0 win at six singles. On Sunday in the Tartans two 9-0 victories over Wooster and Otterbein, Qian posted two victories in doubles action and another straight set win in singles, this time in the four spot.

The Tartans will play University Athletic Association rival Case Western Reserve University on Saturday, February 24 at 5:00 p.m.
