Two Tartans Receive UAA Honor

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Senior Ivana Moses (New Rochelle, N.Y./Phillips Exeter) and sophomore Jacqueline Guevel (Dallas, Texas/The Hockaday School) of the Carnegie Mellon University women's track and field team were named University Athletic Association (UAA) Athletes of the Week. The Tartans competed at the VMI-W&L Track and Field Carnival hosted by Washington and Lee University last weekend.

Moses took first place in the triple jump with a leap of 10.87 meters and placed seventh in the long jump with a mark of 4.92-meters.  Her distance in the triple jump is tied for ninth place on the NCAA Division III qualifier list.

Guevel turned in two second-place showings over the weekend.  She finished second in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.92 and clocked a time of 1:02.99 in the 400-meter hurdles for another second-place finish. Her time in the 400-meter hurdle ranks second on both the NCAA Division III qualifier and the UAA performance lists and her 100-meter hurdle finish tops the UAA and ranks seventh nationally.

The Tartans will be back in action when the travel to Washington & Jefferson Saturday, March 31.
