Aldrich Receives Mideast Regional Award

(NEW ORLEANS, La.) – Associate Head Coach Gary Aldrich of the Carnegie Mellon University men's and women's indoor track and field teams was honored by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association with outstanding regional recognition. The sixth-year coach was named Mideast Assistant Coach of the Year for both teams.

For the second straight season, Aldrich has coached sophomore Jacqueline Guevel (Dallas, Texas/The Hockaday School) to the NCAA Indoor Women's Track and Field Championships.  Guevel is seeded second in the 60-meter hurdles after breaking her previous school record this season.  She also broke the school record in the 60-meter dash.

Aldrich also guided the Tartan men to a runner-up finish at the University Athletic Association Championships. Earlier this year, Aldrich saw athletes set one school record and seven all-time top-five performances.
