Moses Wins Triple Jump as Tartans Compete at the VMI-W&L Carnival

(LEXINGTON, Va.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's track and field team traveled south to Lexington, Virginia for the VMI-W&L Track and Field Carnival hosted by Washington and Lee University at Foster Stadium.

Senior Ivana Moses (New Rochelle, N.Y./Phillips Exeter) won the triple jump Saturday afternoon with a jump of 10.87 meters.  The senior also turned in a seventh-place finish with a leap of 4.92 meters in the long jump.

Sophomore Jacqueline Guevel (Dallas, Texas/The Harker School) raced to second-place finishes in the 100-meter and 400-meter hurdles. She crossed with times of 14.92 and 1:02.99, respectively.

Freshman Sasha Spalding (Springhill, Fla./Springstead) ran to an fourth-place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:00.51. Freshman Erin Kiekhaefer (Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto) turned in two fourth-place showing.  Her first came in the 1500-meter race as she crossed in 4:49.51 and then crossed the finish line in 2:22.21 in the 800-meter run.

The Tartans will be back in action when the travel to Washington & Jefferson Saturday, March 31.
