All-American! Guevel Places Fourth at NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships
(WAVERLY, Iowa) – Carnegie Mellon University sophomore Jacqueline Guevel (Dallas, Texas/The Hockaday School) earned All-America distinction after placing fourth in the 60-meter hurdles at the 2012 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday, March 10, in Waverly, Iowa on the campus of Grinnell College.
After finishing the trials .01 seconds off her own school record time of 8.78 on Friday, Guevel topped the time in the finals crossing the finish line in 8.76 to claim fourth place. Sophomore Tiarra Goode of Birmingham-Southern won the event with a time of 8.56.
By making the top eight after Friday's trials, Guevel earned the 28th All-America honor under head coach Dario Donatelli. It also marked Guevel's fourth All-America honor, as she received the distinction last season three times, indoor once (55-meter hurdles) and outdoor twice (100- and 400-meter hurdles).
