Tartans 4x800 Relay Highlight Saturday’s Performances at the Al Hall Freedom Games

(EDINBORO, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's track and field team competed at the unscored Al Hall Freedom Games hosted at Edinboro University amongst colleges from Divisions I, II and III on Saturday, January 19.  

Leading the way for the Tartans was the 4x800-meter relay team that took top honors.  The relay team consisted of sophomores Halley Bayer (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) and Erin Kiekhaefer (Palo Alto, Calif.) along with freshmen Erin Persson (San Antonio, Texas/Saint Mary's Hall) and Jillian Jaycox (West Chester, Pa./Unionville) which crossed the line in 10:13.74.

Junior Jacqueline Guevel (Dallas, Texas/The Hockaday School) turned in the Tartans lone second-place showing as she crossed the finish line with a time of 9.27 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles.  Freshman Jenna Asperslag (Carlsbad, Calif./San Dieguito Academy) placed fourth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.35 seconds while Sasha Spalding (Springhill, Fla./Springstead) placed fourth in the 200-meter race after crossing in 27.18.

Senior Emily Wobb (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine-Richland) finished third in the mile run and fourth in the 800-meter race with times of 2:32.90 and 5:23.31, respectively, while junior Elise Hall (Hillsboro, Mo./Hillsboro Senior) placed third in the 3,000-meter run.  Hall crossed with a time of 10:51.48.

The Tartans will next compete at the Denison Lid-Lifter on January 26 in Granville, Ohio.
