Six Record Career Marks at Slippery Rock Invitational and Bucknell

(SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's track and field team traveled to Slippery Rock University for the Dave Labor Invitational on Saturday, April 13 with three women recording career bests as a three distance runners ran career bests at the Bucknell University Outdoor Classic.

Junior Jane Kim (Clifton, Va./Centreville) recorded a career-best mark of 35.52m in the hammer throw and a season-best mark in the shot put with a throw of 9.39m as she finished sixth in the hammer and ninth in the shot put. Senior Carissa Iannone (Bedford, N.H./Manchester West) threw the javelin a season best 32.94m to place fifth.

In the 5,000-meter run, sophomore Sara Kelly (Madison, Wis./West) finished fourth in a career-best time of 19:29.23 with freshman Sophia Greene (Indianapolis, Ind./Pike) finishing seventh in 19:59.27. Freshman Taylor Maggiacomo (Temecula, Calif./Great Oak) was fifth in the 800-meter run in 2:38.79

Junior Jacqueline Guevel (Dallas, Texas/The Hockaday School) won the 400-meter hurdles in 1:04.91 while freshman Alexandra Lewis (Milford, N.J./The Taft School) won the 400-meter dash in 1:02.13. Guevel also ran the 100-meter hurdles and finished second in 15.34 seconds.

Freshman Jenna Asperslag (Carlsbad, Calif./San Dieguito Academy) set a career time in the 100-meter dash, finishing in 13.03, while freshman Erin Persson (San Antonio, Texas/Saint Mary's Hall) finished third in the 1,500-meter run in 5:21.30. Persson finished just ahead of junior Marie Barcic (Mt. Lebanon, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) in 5:25.14 and sophomore Hailey Brown (Wellsville, N.Y./Wellsville) in 5:26.33.

At Bucknell, senior Emily Wobb (Gibsonia, Pa./Pine Richland) ran a career best 17:15.27 in the 5,000-meter run finishing 12th overall. Sophomore Halley Bayer (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Allegheny) and sophomore Erin Kiekhaefer (Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto) also ran a career best times in the 5,000-meter run finishing in 17:41.32 and 18:16.51, respectively.

The team will next travel to Allegheny College in Meadville, Pa., for a tri-meet on Tuesday, April 16.
