Tartans Compete at BW Mid-February Meet
(BEREA, Ohio) — The Carnegie Mellon University women's track and field team competed at the 2020 BW Mid-February Meet hosted by Baldwin Wallace University in Berea, Ohio, on Friday, February 14. The women competed against a number of Division III athletes and scored 45 points overall.
Sophomore Tanvi Bhargava (Cupertino, Calif. / The International School Bangalore) placed sixth in the 3,000-meter run in a time of 11:30. Senior Michelle Karabin (Ruffs Dale, Pa. / Greensburg Central Catholic) won the pole vault clearing 3.35 meters, while sophomore Visakha Ho (Rolla, Mo. / Rolla) paced third clearing 3.05 meters.
Sophomore Sami Johnson (Thousand Oaks, Calif. / Thousand Oaks) placed fifth in the triple jump with a mark of 10.25 meters. The sophomore also placed ninth in the long jump with a leap of 4.75 meters.
Senior Joanna Baranowski (Syosset, N.Y. / Syosset) placed sixth in the 55-meter hurdles in a time of 9.02. Baranowski also placed second in the 400-meters in a time of 1:00.90. Both times were career bests.
In the mile run, senior Emmalyn Lindsey (Eugene, Ore. / South Eugene) placed fifth in a time of 5:35. In the 800-meter run, junior Brittney Sidwell (Aurora, Ill. / Metea Valley) placed seventh with a time of 2:33 and fellow junior Rachel Jones (Chicago, Ill. / Jones College Prep) placed ninth in 2:36.
The Tartans will compete next at the Bucknell Tune Up hosted by Bucknell University on Friday, February 21 in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania.
