Barre Earns All-America Honor in Pentathlon at NCAA Indoor Championships, Giordani Competes in Preliminaries of 200

(WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.) – Junior Liz Barre (Ithaca, N.Y. / Taft) of the Carnegie Mellon University women's indoor track and field team earned All-America recognition at the 2022 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday. The championships are being held at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, with Visit Winston-Salem and Guilford College serving as hosts.

Barre placed seventh in the pentathlon breaking her own school record with 3,399 points. The junior won the high jump as she tied the school record clearing the bar at 1.66 meters. She also recorded two other personal bests on Friday in the 60-meter hurdles and the shot put. Barre placed fifth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.07 seconds and was 11th in the shot put with a toss of 9.91 meters.

Junior Samantha Giordani (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Ambridge) also competed at the championships on Friday. The junior placed third in her heat in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.47, as she placed 12th overall in the preliminaries with the top eight advancing to the finals.
