Seballos Breaks 24-Year School Record in 3k as Tartans Run at Bison Open

(LEWISBURG, Pa.) – Graduate student Kristen Seballos and senior Kavya Tummalapalli of the Carnegie Mellon University women's track and field team compete at the Bucknell Bison Outdoor Classic over the weekend.

Results:

  • Seballos broke the school record in the 3,000-meter when she crossed the finish line with a time of 10:02.75 and placed second overall in a field of 67 runners and was the top Division III runner to cross. She broke Margaret Powers record of 10:06.81 which was set in 1999.
  • On Saturday, Seballos won the 1,500-meter race in a field of 96 runners. She crossed with a personal-best time of 4:38.97.
  • Tummalapalli crossed in a personal-best time of 2:17.13 in the 800-meter run.

  • The Tartans will compete at the University Athletic Association Outdoor Championships on April 22-23 hosted by the University of Chicago.
