Tartans Win Four Events at the Muskingum, Barre Places First in Pentathlon at Bucknell Open

(NEW CONCORD, Ohio) — The Carnegie Mellon University women's track and field team competed at the Muskie Meet #3 hosted by Muskingum University on Saturday, January 27, earning second place overall with a score of 115 points. Graduate Student Liz Barre traveled to the Bucknell Open and Multi on Friday to compete in the pentathlon. 

Barre's Performance at Bucknell:

  • Barre won the pentathlon with a score of 3,628 points.
  • The 2023 NCAA Heptathlon Champion placed first in three out of the five events: 60m hurdles with a time of 8.96, high jump with a height of 1.70m, and long jump with a distance of 5.59m.
  • Barre placed second in shot put with a toss of 10.36m and third in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:39.71. 

Top Performances on the Track at Muskingum:

  • Freshman Ananya Devpura placed first in the 3,000-meter event with a time of 11:00.34. Freshman Alaina Patel placed fourth with a time of 11:15.78.
  • Sophomore Orit Shiang placed first in the mile run with a time of 5:08.70. Sophomore Margaret Ann Healy placed second with a time of 5:11.96 and sophomore Jacqueline Liu placed fifth with a time of 5:20.75.
  • Senior Isabella Rhee placed first in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:21.36 and her teammate senior Emily Lannen followed close behind with a time of 2:23.77, earning third place.
  • The Tartans 4x400-meter relay team of junior Sunny Tang, Lannen, junior Rhythm Satav, and Rhee placed second in a time of 4:12.50.

 Top Performances in the Field at Muskingum:

  • Senior JoJo Huczko placed fourth in the pole vault event, clearing the 3.26m mark.
  • Sophomore Zoe King placed fourth in the long jump event, with a mark of 5.04m.
  • Junior Jocelyn Kiefel placed first in the triple jump event with an indoor-best mark of 10.86m while sophomore Iniyaa Mohanraj placed fifth with a mark of 10.10m.

  • The Tartans will travel to Case Western Reserve University for the Battle for the Obelisk on Saturday, February 3.
