Barre Garners Second UAA Indoor Field Athlete of the Week Honor

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Graduate student Liz Barre of the Carnegie Mellon University women's indoor track and field team was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week for field events for the second time this indoor season following her performance at the Bucknell Open and Multi on Friday in the pentathlon.

Barre won the pentathlon with a score of 3,628 points. She placed first in three events: 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.96, high jump with a height of 1.70 meters and long jump with a distance of 5.59 meters. Barre placed second in shot put with a toss of 10.36 meters and third in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:39.71.

She currently ranks second nationally in the pentathlon, third in the high jump, 10th in the 60-meter hurdles and 11th in the long jump, while ranking tops in the UAA in all four events.

The Tartans will travel to Case Western Reserve University for the Battle for the Obelisk on Saturday, February 3.
