Tartans Blank St. Vincent Behind Parsa's 17 Kills

(LATROBE, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon women's volleyball team traveled to Latrobe, Pa. Tuesday, September 3 and came away with a 3-0 victory over the Bearcats of St. Vincent College.  The Tartans improve to 4-1 after winning by the scores of 25-8, 25-18, 25-16.  The loss pushes the Bearcats record to 2-3.

Senior Senna Parsa (Bellevue, Wash./Newport) was the lone Tartan to record double digit kills as the outside hitter tallied a season-best 17 while hitting .467 on 30 attempts.  Parsa was also strong defensively recording nine digs and two block assists.  As a team, Carnegie Mellon had seven service aces with Parsa accounting for four.

For the third straight match, senior Ali Nichols (Portland, Ore./Jesuit) posted double digits in digs tallying a season-high 13.  Sophomore Emily Lawlis (The Woodlands, Texas/The Woodlands College Park) tallied 22 assists and freshman Emily Newton (Manhattan Beach, Calif./Chadwick School) had 14.

The Tartans will travel for the weekend to Cleveland, Ohio for four matches in the Marcia French Memorial Invitational. They open the tournament on Friday against  Capital at 4:00 p.m.
