Tartans Notch 12th Win

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University volleyball team hosted the Frostburg State Bobcats Tuesday, September 24 and won 3-0 (25-16, 25-14, 25-15).  The win improves the Tartans record to 12-3 while the Bobcats are now 2-13.

Junior Ali Celentano (Mission Viejo, Calif./JSerra Catholic) led the way with nine kills. Freshman Jackie Gibbons (Evanston, Ill./Evanston Township) was the second leading Tartan with five kills while seniors Senna Parsa (Bellevue, Wash./Newport) and Rachel Miller (Ann Arbor, Mich./Ann Arbor Huron) each had four.
    
Freshman setter Emily Newton (Manhattan Beach, Calif./Chadwick School) tallied 25 assists and had a career-high 14 digs. Senior Kerry Hennessy (Walnut Creek, Calif./Bentley) led the team with two service aces.

At the net, Gibbons and Newton each had three block assists while Gibbons recorded one solo.  The three block assists for Newton was also a career-best.

The Tartans will travel to York, Pennsylvania to compete in the York College Spartan Invitational. Carnegie Mellon will begin play on Friday, September 27 when the take on Fairleigh Dickinson at 5:00 p.m.
